MILWAUKEE-- The United Steelworkers say layoff notices have gone out to 115 Caterpillar workers at the company's facilities in "Oak Creek" and "South Milwaukee."

Caterpillar, a construction and mining equipment company, would not confirm the numbers but did acknowledge that it's had to reduce costs in the second half of this year.

The company laid off 260 workers back in June, citing a drop in demand for mining equipment.
