Burlington braces for flooding
Residents who live along the river in the city of Burlington are preparing for potential flooding of their homes.
Thursday, city officials had sand and bags available for residents to fill. Tom Griesman is watching the forecast closely and wants to be prepared just in case water levels get as high as they were in 2008.
"We're anticipating it might," he said. "So we're just going to cordon off part of the house and the shed [to] keep the water at bay."
City officials plan to have the sand and bags ready all night long through Thursday and assess the sitation early Friday morning.
Several roadways surrounding the river have been closed to thru traffic.
