Brookfield  -- Police warn people that when it cools off people leave their windows and screen doors open. That opens an opportunity for burglars which is exactly what happened Thursday.

The most recent happened near Capitol Drive and Brookfield Road.  Burglars walked into a home through an unlocked door.  They stole electronics, a watch, and a wallet full of cash and credit cards.

A similar incident happened in Menomonee Falls earlier this week.  Police believe they are connected.  They advise people to lock their doors.

Janet Knoch isn't taking any chances.

"I always get a little leery of people wandering in," Knoch said.

She keeps her doors locked whenver she's not in that room.

Police do not have any suspects.
