MILWAUKEE— A blaze in West Allis destroyed two businesses.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Monday at a hobby store near 80th and National and spread to a medical supply business right behind it.

West Allis Assistant Fire Chief Martin King said that the fire was so intense that about seven neighboring Fire Departments were called in to help.

Crews worked well into the night and early in the morning to put out hot spots and get the fire under control.

Neighbors said that they are shocked to see what’s left of the hobby shop that has been a West Allis staple for many years.

“It was quite an inferno last night. Really really devastated. This place has been here longer than I have been here for more than 26 years. Everything inside of there was small plastic models, little hobby stuff, and balsa wood stuff. I mean there was no way they were going to slow it down," said Steve Parbs.

There was no inside of the store at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
