Beating the heat

by Keith Meka

MILWAUKEE - The heat and the humidity are on today in Southeastern Wisconsin. A lot of people tried beating the hot weather at Bradford Beach today. The breeze along with cold beverages kept them cool. It's not all fun and games for everyone though.

A lot of school kids were in classrooms without air conditioning, but administrators at schools like Franklin Pierce Elementary School in Riverwest are prepared for the heat. They're holding many classes in the basement of the building where it's cooler.

They have at least two fans in every classroom and they take frequent water breaks. Then there are people outside working in the hot temperatures as well. Road crews tell us the key to beating the hot weather is to drink a lot of fluids.
