Bay View residents walk to promote awareness of sex assaults
MILWAUKEE---More than a hundred people walked through the Bay View Neighborhood Monday evening to promote awareness of recent sexual assaults in the area.
Holding signs, they sent a message of solidarity and a commitment to safety.
"It's just an exciting event to be apart of and make a stand," said Resident Amanda Daering.
In the past 18 months there have been a series of nine sexual assaults in the area, with the most recent happening earlier this month.
Alderman Tony Zielinski said Bay View has one of the lowest crime rates in the city and they take these types of crimes very seriously. He had a message for the perpetrator.
"You commit another crime here, we're going to be looking for you and sooner or later we're going to catch you," he said.
