WATERFORD-- Extra police patrols are on hand near Waterford High School today after reports of an attempted child abduction.

A 15-year-old girl told police she was walking home in the 200 block of Washington Street Wednesday afternoon, when a man approached her and tried to lure her into his vehicle, according to the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

"I'm worried, this is the first time this has happened in our area," said Kerri Ball, who owns a Bakery located across the street from the High School.

Reports indicate the man tried talking to the teenage girl and when she walked away, he grabbed her by her hooded sweatshirt to pull her into his vehicle. Fortunately, she managed to get away.

"It's uncomfortable that it's that close to the high school and so many schools around here and so many kids walking, "said Diane Broz, whose daughter is a sophomore at the High School.

The suspect is described as a man about 6 ft tall, weighs approximately 180-200 lbs, with a brown scruffy beard, wearing blue jeans, a dark green jacket, sun glasses and a baseball cap.

The man was reportedly driving a silver vehicle, similar to a late 90's early 2000's Buick Regal.

Police conducted a search for the suspect in the area during a neighborhood check, but did not find anyone with the matching description.
