Armed robbery suspect shot and killed by officer

MILWAUKEE---An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by a Milwaukee Police Officer Saturday near Howard Ave. and 2nd St.

According to police just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday two men who knew each other met for what police are calling a "business transaction" behind a building at 17th and Layton.

One of the men says the other man brought a gun and robbed him during the transaction.

The armed robbery suspect fled in his vehicle and the robbery victim followed him.

As the suspect was fleeing he crashed his vehicle and ran from the scene.

A Milwaukee Police Officer attempted to stop the suspect he believed was involved in the armed robbery.

Accroding to the information released by police,"During the encounter, the officer had reason to believe his life was in danger and he discharged his weapon, striking the suspect."

The suspect is a 28-year-old man from Germantown. He is currently on probation and is wanted on warrants for felony escape and a probation violation.

The shooting officer is a 39-year-old man with 15 years of service.

In accordance with MPD procedure, the officer was placed on administrative duty.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
