Aldi Shooter Speaks Out
MILWAUKEE -- For the first time the grocery store customer who fired his gun to stop a robbery suspect talks about what exactly happened.
That man said he was just trying to protect himself, his wife, and everyone inside the store. “See a guy walking with his arm up, and a shot gun out of his sleeve and a bag, so obviously an armed robbery was about to happen,” said Nazir Al-Mujaahid who shot an armed robber. That's when Nazir Al-Mujaahid knew this was a moment of truth. “I told my wife to back up out of the way, she did, people in the aisle cleared out, I backed up, he was shouting at the chaser with the shotgun to her head,” said Al-Mujaahid. So he acted. “I made the decision to go ahead and try to resolve the situation as best as possible and that mean firing shots, thankfully I hit him a couple times,” said Al-Mujaahid. He connected once in the leg another shot grazed the would be robbers forehead, the suspect dropped the gun and the bag and took off. Nadir said he is licensed and had his concealed carry permit 2 weeks before the shooting but he was in a store that didn't allow any weapons. Nazir told CBS-58 he didn't see the sign at the Aldi's prohibiting guns and if had he would have kept his gun on him and bought his groceries somewhere else. “To me those a criminally friendly zones, criminals don't care if you have a sign, they're just going to bring it in,” said Al-Mujaahid. His actions raised the question with the Milwaukee county district attorney of whether pulling the trigger was justifiable the DA addressed that today. “He put himself in a dangerous situation and he acted in a manner that kept him and others safe, it wouldn't make sense to charge him with a crime or citation,” said John Chisholm Milwaukee Co. District Attorney. |

I've been at this location, and what gets me is that no one ever mentions what the so called security guard was doing when this went down. Yes they have a full time security guards on duty.

I hate to admit this but shooting at bad guys never crossed my mind in all my years on earth. Call me old fashioned (new fashioned?), but law enforcement has served me well over the years, and I respect our officers. But now, their jobs have become even more complicated and dangerous. I wonder if all the desperate, gun toting criminals will step up their game by becoming a lot more excited, strangely aggressive, and a little more savvy, knowing ANYONE could now be carrying. Maybe the smart crook will single out who they think might be carrying and then make an example -- need I say more? Republicans created the gun problems in America and their solution is to give everyone a weapon so as to defend ourselves from republican greed based laws that put all these guns on the streets in the first place. Yes, I'm very glad the crook was the only one winged, but I know it's only a matter of time before innocent people get hurt.

The Aldi issue isn't over, the would be robber can sue the shooter in court. Doesn't mean he will but he can legally challenge in civil court. I would believe his attorney will also go after Aldi's too, who will also go after the hero shooter, just like Walmart had to fire the employee who stopped the gun carrying customer who made threats against others. The policy is to protect the customers.

I heard a "tease" on the radio concerning this story where Michelle McCormack equated this guys actions with "vigilante justice." Shame on you. CBS 58 has lost all credibility with me at this point. This man's exercising his fundamental right of self defense in this situation is not vigilante justice. You should know better. For you to imply that it was vigilante justice is irresponsible and reflects your bias. I'll be tuning somewhere else going forward for my local news.

he should have had an attorney, he should have said he made a decision after discussing the act of shooting the would be robber. Dumb move, he should have just said he didn't really think about it and acted out of fear. Remember that Flip. Also Harvey's brother could probably get him off even if he is a republican.
