9-11 Rescue Unit Arrives in Greenfield

Part of Fundraiser for Firefighters

by Michele McCormack

GREENFIELD-Emotional moments Friday afternoon at the "House of Harley" near 60th and Layton, when one of only two surviving rescue trucks from the 9-11 terrorist attacks rolled in.

The Rescue Five Truck is part of a special remembrance project.

The Staten Island based unit rushed to the World Trade Center. Some of the firefighters on board were actually off duty at the time.

None of them came back and half of the truck was destroyed.

It has since been restored and its arrival to Wisconsin is to coincide with the "Memorial Ride for Remembrance" which takes place Saturday.

There will be a memorial ride from House of Harley to the fire station in East Troy Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

You can register on the same day if you show up at 9:30 a.m.

The $35 fee will go to a tribute fund for firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
