Mother accused of child abuse appears in court
MILWAUKEE COUNTY -- Police say she dropped her young child, face first, on the concrete and on Monday a Milwaukee mother could find out if she'll go to trial for the alleged abuse.
UPDATE: Oliver appeared in court today to concede. She waived her right to a preliminary trial, binding her over for trial. Oliver pleaded not guilty through her lawyer, and is being charged with battery, two counts of child abuse, and abandonment. Her next court date is scheduled for March 7th
A witness told police Jasmine Oliver, 22, intentionally threw her baby to the ground.
Court records indicate she later approached a police officer and told him she no longer wanted her child.
The baby was rushed to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.
If convicted on the four charges, she could face 12 and a half years in prison.
