MILWAUKEE—Firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex near Teutonia and Good Hope Road early Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at the 10 unit complex around 3:00 a.m.

Four people, two adults and two children, were rescued from the second story of the building.

The children were just 2-year-old and 8 months old.

Another 10 people had escaped before the fire department arrived.

A cooking fire is what started the blaze on the second floor of the building.

The fire caused $58,500 worth of damage to the structure and $14,600 worth of damage to contents in the building.

Red Cross was called in to help 30 people who were displaced.

The fire department said that there were working smoke detectors.
