BROOKFIELD -- Brookfield police officers are thanking the media and the public for helping find 26-year-old Amber Hammond.
She was reported missing after today, and family was concerned because she has autism and according to police the capabilities of a six year old.
She was last seen by a neighbor walking with a suitcase with wheels near Calhoun Rd. and Capitol Dr.
Shortly after reports on the news showed Amber's photo, information came into the police office which helped locate her.
Police issued the following release Monday night:
At approximately 7:00pm Amber P Hammond was located at the Victory Outreach Church 2110 W. National Ave. Milwaukee Wi. Upon making contact with her she was safe and uninjured. She was reunited with her Aunt and Uncle. Our department was able to locate Amber through the help of the media. A witness who saw Amber's picture on the news called and informed our department that she had picked her up and given her a ride to the bus stop on 124th and Capitol Dr. During the ride Amber told the witness that she was taking a bus to the church on 21st and National Ave. On behalf of the Chief of Police Daniel Tushaus, and our department I would like to personally thank all of the media outlets who assisted in the safe return of Amber.
