18 OWI arrests made this weekend

MILWAUKEE --- The Sheriff's Office made 18 drunk driver arrests this weekend as part of Operation Drive Sober.

Four of the arrests were repeat offenders. One of the arrests involved a driver who was impaired by drugs. That person caused a crash on I-94 at Hawley road. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Milwaukee resident 29-year-old Demond Essex was arrested for his third OWI. Other repeat offenders included 27-year-old Jeffrey Poad of Colgate, 35-year-old Michael Dertz of Glendale and 26-year-old Catrina Braatz of Wauwatosa. All of those individuals were arrested for their second OWIs.

Operation Driver Sober is carried out every weekend by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in an effort to help keep the freeways safe.
