MILWAUKEE -- Saturday is declared 'Forget Me Not Day' in honor of Alexis Patterson who disappeared when she was 7-years-old from Hi-Mount Boulevard Community School. Saturday is the 12 year anniversary.

Her mother says she believes she will see Alexis again, "I will never give up."

Alexis Patterson would be 19 years old. The community says it's a void that has never been filled when Alexis Patterson failed to show up for school 12 years ago.

Saturday morning Sheriff David Clarke and Alexis' family and friends gathered at the place she was last seen and laid a wreath in her honor. Balloons were also released and they prayed for her safe return.

The girl was last seen walking to school in 2002.  Her disappearance is being investigated by the cold case unit. There is a $10,000 reward for her disappearance.
