Lake Geneva man dead after head-on crash with semi near state line

GENOA CITY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday December 5 around 7:24 a.m. the Walworth County Sheriff's Office received a report of a head-on crash on Highway 12 near South Road at the Wisconsin/Illinois State line in Genoa City.
When authorities arrived they found that a semi with trailer and minivan had collided on Highway 12.
According to police, the 2014 minivan driven by a 37-year-old Lake Geneva man, Allen Bates, was driving east on Highway 12 when he crossed the center line. The minivan then hit the semi which was driving west driven by a 49-year-old man from Wyoming, Michigan.
The driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
