La Crosse Man's Sentence for Homicide Case Includes Posting on Social Media

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A man charged in the death of his passenger after the man was thrown from the vehicle and died was sentenced Thursday.  

Hunter Scott charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle received four years of probation including one year of conditional jail of which nine months must be served without release. 

Scott must also complete 100 hours of community service each year as well as make monthly posts on social media about the dangers of reckless driving.

His license was also revoked for one year.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office said Hunter Scott was driving on CTH B just west of Linse Road in October 2014 when he crossed the center-line, entered the ditch and rolled several times.

Sgt. M. Valencia said both Scott and his passenger, 24-year-old Sean Schaller, were thrown from the vehicle. Authorities say Schaller died at the scene.
