JCPenney closing distribution and customer care center in Wauwatosa, 670 workers to be impacted

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) --  The JCPenney Distribution Center in Wauwatosa is slated to close this summer.

JCPenney says it’s transferring operations from Tosa to Lenexa, Kansas and Columbus, Ohio. The distribution center will close on July 1 and the Customer Care Center is set to close September 1.

About 670 employees are affected by the shutdown. The company says eligible employees will receive separation benefits, including outplacement support and an on-site career training class. The class will assist associates in writing resumes, filling out applications, answering interview questions and more.
