School starts soon for many of our kids. And the cost to buy basic school supplies might be a big concern to you and your family. This is why some public safety agencies in Racine County have teamed up and are challenging each other to see who can raise the most pencils, pens, and paper. It’s the Mt. Pleasant and Sturtevant Police Departments against the South Shore Fire Department. The winning team gets the bragging rights while the ones who lose out will probably get a good soaking.
There are various sites you can donate school supplies all across Racine County. Red is for fire, blue for police. You have through Friday to do so. May the best team win. We have a list of all the dropoff locations. Just click here. The winning team will be announced Sunday. The supplies will eventually be distributed to three local schools, including Schulte, West Ridge, and Dr. Jones Elementary Schools.
Also, while I was there, I got to see some of the K-9 units in Racine County, including Brutus from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Rhea, the drug-sniffing dog, from the Sturtevant Police Department.
