MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Repairers of Breach is typically closed on Sundays but this Sunday they made an exception.
With temperatures in the low 90's, many people had limited places to go to get out of the heat.
"It's just too hot, it's treacherous," said Andre Patterson, visitor.
Dozens of people lined up at Repairers of the Breached before it opened its doors at 10 a.m.
“A lot of places are closed on Sundays so they don’t have anywhere to go on Sunday so that’s why we decided to open up," said Brian Brown, worker.
Visitors got a meal, a shower and cool place to stay during the hot and humid day.
“I am very happy they decided to do this you know because we don’t have anywhere to go," said Balerie Scott, visitor.
The Milwaukee Health Department sent the media list of designated cooling sites throughout Milwaukee. CBS 58 called more than a dozen of them and found most of them were closed on Sunday.
"You don’t have to be out there. But if you happen to be out there direct your feet here to Repairers of the Breach," said Scott.
With the increasing number of visitors, Repairers of the Breach needs donations like water, bath soap, deodorant, towels and fruit. For more on how you can help, click here. You can also drop off donations at their location.
