It's A Midge Invasion along The Lakefront

(Milwaukee)--The lakefront is a very crowded spot these days, especially with all those midges flying everywhere.

These quarter-inch pesky pests are in the middle of their mating season. They're similar to the mosquito but don't bite. They're perfectly harmless, more just an annoyance. They live and thrive by the water, and if you're doing any recreational activity by the lake these days, you know they're there.

The water supply where midges breed is typically in good condition. Most of these midges should be gone by early June. This is when the mosquito seasons begins. Experts we spoke with say the mosquitos shouldn't be as bad because it's been so cold for so long, although this is just speculation.
