Investigation underway after dog finds part of skull in Barron County

BARRON, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Wisconsin State Crime Lab is investigating after a dog brought its owner part of a human skull.

WEAU-TV reports the remains were found Sunday in a wooded area south of Barron in Barron County.

Deputies did locate more human remains at the scene.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the county has no missing person cases, and they are contacting surrounding counties to see if it is connected to any other cases.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, the Barron County Medical Examiner, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Minnesota are all assisting with the case.
