Injured cat "Maytag" rescued from dryer vent

SAUKVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) – A cat rescued from a dryer vent in Grafton is expected to make a full recovery, according to staff at the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The shelter says a woman from Port Washington discovered the injured kitty, which has been nicknamed “Maytag,” and rescued her. She was then brought to the WHS Ozaukee Campus on February 13 and given treatment for injuries. Officials say she had wounds on her head, ears, and leg likely from trying to escape and burns on her face and ears. It’s unknown why the cat crawled into the vent.

WHS says the cost of Maytag’s medical care is expected to cost over $1,500. They’re asking anyone who would like to donate to visit wihumane.org/donate or call WHS at (414) 431-6119.

No one has come forward to claim the cat and Maytag is expected to be healthy enough for adoption in a week or two. No holds are being taken for her and adoptions are first-come, first-served as long as it’s a good fit.
