MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The 51st anniversary of Summerfest kicked off on Wednesday.
It's 11 days of music, food, and fun. There's a little something for everyone.
"I love the view. I love this festival," said one attendee. It's a great place to make new friends and there's dancing everywhere. All of this just on day one.
"I'm with thousands of my friends," said one attendee.
"You have to get out of those clothes and get into shorts and a t-shirt and enjoy yourself," another attendee said.
"And dance on a picnic table." Excellent advice from some ladies who have clearly done Summerfest before. You start mixing it up with the crowds and you find there are plenty of experienced festival-goers here.
"I've been coming every year you know. I'm a woman of a certain age. I look forward to this all year."
Don't forget the food either.
"How can you go to a festival and not order cheese fries? I'll give it a try. They are delicious. I'm making a mess of my face," another attendee said.
"You munch on great food. You have some refreshing drinks and it's a great time."
Summerfest also gave away free weekday admission tickets to those who brought in three non-perishable food items.
