Hundreds gather in memory of Sierra Guyton

(MILWAUKEE)-- Hundreds gathered Monday night to honor Sierra Guyton, the 10-year-old Milwaukee girl shot and killed in May.  Pink balloons filled the sky and prayers rang out at Clarke Street School playground, the place where police say Guyton was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight.

Guyton died early Sunday morning at Children's Hospital after surviving without life support for nearly two weeks.

The plea from the community at the vigil Monday night: put down the guns, protect our children.  Anger and sadness filled the playground, but also a sense of hope that the loss of Sierra would convince the community to come together and end the bloodshed.  CBS 58's Bill Walsh has more from the vigil, including a family member's heartbreaking account of Sierra's final days.
