High pressure brings cooler, drier weather in for now

A large area of high pressure centered to our west will give the region a dry, northwest flow and nice weather the next two days. The temperatures will drop into the 50s for the morning, then back up into the 70s today. Today will be six straight days in the 70s, and possibly we hit 80 Thursday, before another cooler day is expected with rain on the way.

This dry spell in the next few days comes at a good time with rainfall being a major issue. Madison and locations in south central Wisconsin are still cleaning up after rainfall. Milwaukee is an inch above average this month for rain, and almost two inches above normal for Meteorological Summer.

Don’t get too used to the dry weather. Rain and storms roll back in by Friday morning and throughout the day. Right now the severe weather risk is out west and seems low, but we will be watching this situation closely. A warm front for late this weekend and early next week will bring more storms and hot/humid air in!
