Heat and humidity could bring strong storms

The warmest air of the season will roll in just in time for the unofficial start of the summer season as Memorial Weekend and June draws closer. Highs today will jump into the 80s for the first time since the 8th of the May, and the fifth time this month. On average, we typically see four highs in the 80s. We will have plenty more over the next 10 days.

Hot air marches in for Friday through Sunday with each day featuring lows 90s for parts of the area. Milwaukee and the metro will have the best chance to hit 90 on Saturday. Last year’s first 90 didn’t take place until June 10th.

As the heat and humidity soar into the picture, storms will follow. Strong to severe storms will develop Friday night and early Saturday, some even earlier with increasing instability. Large hail and high winds will be the primary threats along with heavier downpours.

Memorial weekend, including Memorial Day will be hot. Make sure you have sunscreen and bring plenty of hydrating fluids with you when outdoors.
