HAWS receives an unprecedented number of calls for wildlife with objects stuck on their heads

Waukesha County Humane Society is getting a lot of calls about wild animals with objects stuck on their heads.

Raccoons, a coyote, and more. While it may look funny, it's very serious for the animals and dangerous for humans who feel moved to try and help.

So HAWS is offering some advice if you see something like this:

  • Keep garbage and recycling bins tightly closed to keep animals out.
  • If you see an animal struggling with an object on its head, don't try to remove it. The animal is already scared and may attack you once its free.
  • Safely confine the animal in a box, a crate, or a fenced area and call the experts in Waukesha County.

HAWS Animal Rescue team number is 262-542-8851.
