Kenosha Police warning against scams

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha Police report that scams have been happening in the city. In these scams, the suspect will walk right into someone's house often while the person is in the home or on the property. If they are caught, they give an excuse explaining why they are there.

Kenosha Police encourage residents to lock their home even if they are working in the yard or shoveling.

In the recent scams are people pretending to be from the Kenosha Water Utility Department in order to get inside the house.

Some examples of these types of scams in the past are a driveway seal or coating excuse and contractor fraud. In these cases the person will usually say they can do some simple work but won't start until you pay and then once you give them money they walk away.
