"Guns Down Miltown" campaign aims to reduce gun violence in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee Health Department's Office of Violence Prevention teamed up with Clear Channel Outdoor for a new ad campaign aimed at reducing gun violence.

The message will soon be seen on billboards and bus shelters around Milwaukee. The campaign kicked off at a bus shelter on Milwaukee's south side.

"The time is now, the time is now for us to stand up to tell people to put their guns down. The time is now for us to value our lives and value the lives of young people," said Youth Violence Prevention Coordinator Shana Kidd.

The Guns Down Miltown campaign was developed by local designer and photographer Gideon Verdin and his partner Denzel Johnson to promote peace within the city.
