Gas prices up about 20 cents compared to this time last year, Milwaukee still below national average

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The average price of a gallon of gas is up by about 20 cents compared to a year ago, according to gas price analysts with GasBuddy.

GasBuddy says the price of a gallon of gas in the Milwaukee area is about $2.48, only a cent lower than last week. This is below the national average which is $2.53 a gallon. The national average has increased 22.7 cents per gallon higher than this time last year.

According to GasBuddy, Great Lakes refinery issues and lower U.S. oil inventories compared to the previous year are to blame for higher prices.
