Fond du Lac Police respond to SWATTING report Friday
FOND DU LAC, WI (CBS 58) -- A 27-year-old Fond du Lac man is in custody in connection with a “SWATTING” incident Friday night. According to the Fond du Lac Police, around 9:55 PM, a male caller contacted the 911 center reporting that a man was holding a woman a gunpoint in the basement of a residence at 3rd and S Marr Streets. According to the Fond du Lac Police, when the 911 center called the number back it went directly to voice mail.
The Fond du Lac Police and the SWAT team responded to the residence and set up a perimeter around the building. Contact was made with the four people inside the residence who were questioned. No victim’s or subjects were found in the house.
The Fond du Lac Police determined the call was a false report of a hostage situation intended to trigger a large police response. Officers were able to track down the source of the original 911 call and took the suspect into custody. He is currently being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on numerous charges.
