MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – An effort to boost the fine for leaving your car running unattended was rejected by a vote of 13-2 at Tuesday morning’s Common Council meeting.
"You can't charge the constituent, you have to charge the perpetrator," 15th District Ald. Russell Stamper said. "Let's inform the public of what's happening, not fining the constituent."
The fine remains at $22. Had it passed, the fine would have jumped to $75 if a violator’s car was found idling unattended not only in the street but also in the driveway.
