Fox exec says criticized Obama video unauthorized

NEW YORK (AP) -- A Fox News executive says a video played on the morning show "Fox & Friends" contrasting President Barack Obama's words with negative statistics about his administration wasn't authorized at the network's senior level.

Programming executive vice president Bill Shine says the video was created by an associate producer but senior executives would not have approved it.

Fox News Channel has received criticism for airing the nearly 4-minute video twice Wednesday.

The liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America says it was essentially an "anti-Obama attack ad."

The conservative website Hot Air says it doesn't disagree with the message but questions whether a news organization should have shown it.

The video was posted on the "Fox & Friends" website Wednesday afternoon but was taken down.
