Door County Festival Season Starts

If you are looking to get away this summer, Door County, WI would like you to head north.

Jon Jarosh with the Door County Visitor Bureau joined us live on the CBS58 News at 4 to tell us about a number of festivals happening this summer. "There are festivals literally every weekend between now and the end of the season," Jarosh said.

If you are free this weekend (June 9-12), you could check out Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay, which features more than 100 live bands.

Jarosh is also excited about the Door County Beer Festival (June 18) ,which will feature a wide selection of craft beers to taste.  "We'll have over 200 different kinds of beer, over 50 breweries, but importantly, Door County breweries will be there full strength," Jarosh said.

One week later (June 25), Jarosh says the inaugural Door County Wine Fest will delight. "Our 8 wineries along the Door County wine trail are putting that on, over 80 of their wines will be there as part of that festival," Jarosh said.

If beer and wine aren't your thing, the Fyr Bal festival in Ephraim will re-create traditions of early Norwegians celebrating Midsummer’s Eve complete with food, live music, family activities.  "They have bonfires along the harbor, fireworks at night, just a gorgeous time," Jarosh said.
