UPDATE: Names released in deadly Dodge County crash

UPDATE: The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the people involved in a deadly crash Thursday morning.

They say 37-year-old Kayla Davis, of Beaver Dam, stopped her vehicle in the left lane of Highway 151, near Forest Road, to help assist with a two vehicle crash. She stepped onto the median shoulder when she was struck and killed by a driver, 28-year-old Troy Kelm, of Beaver Dam, who was trying to avoid crashing into Davis' vehicle.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office was called to a crash on Highway 151, north of Forest Road, in the Township of Calamus around 5:15 Thursday morning. 

The preliminary investigation shows an unrelated two vehicle crash happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 151, with both vehicles coming to rest in the median. A 37-year-old woman, of Beaver Dam, was traveling southbound on 151 when she stopped in the left lane to assist. The woman got out of her vehicle and walked onto the median shoulder. A southbound vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old Beaver Dam man, swerved to avoid striking her vehicle, however, struck the woman.

The Dodge County Medical Examiner was called to the scene and pronounced the woman decease. The male driver was uninjured. Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family and will not be released until at least 9:00 Friday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
