Delay in overnight maintenance work in the Zoo Interchange will impact Wednesday commute

Drivers who use the Zoo Interchange for their morning commute will want to leave early and plan for a detour this morning.

US 45 northbound from the Zoo Interchange to Watertown Plank Road is closed because of a delay in overnight Milwaukee County maintenance work. According to an alert from the Zoo Interchange Team, overnight repairs are taking longer than expected and the area could remained closed through 8 a.m. causing significant delays during the morning commute.

Commuters are advised to use WIS 100 from the south and Bluemound Road to WIS 100 from the west.  The ramp from I-94 West to US 45 north has been opened. Drivers can also exit at 68th Street and take Bluemound to 84th Street to Watertown Plank Road from the east. Law enforcement will assist with traffic management in affected intersections.

The alert says travelers who normally take US 45 could use I-43 north throughout the Marquette Interchange and head over to US 45 on one of the major east/west routes. Drivers coming from the south and southwest should use I-43 to Moorland Road to Bluemound Road to WIS 100.
