DA to provide investigation update to family of Dontre Hamilton

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County District Attorney will meet with the family of Dontre Hamilton to update them on the investigation into the police officer who shot Hamilton. This comes after the family has been coordinating with community activist to keep this shooting incident in the media spotlight.

On April 30, 2014, Dontre Hamilton was shot 14 times  while at Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee. The name of the officer who shot Hamilton has yet to be publicly released. The family has been given the officer's name. That officer remains on administrative duty until a charging decision is made by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

The Hamilton family has been calling for criminal charges against the officer for months. There have been a number of demonstrations throughout the city and two weeks ago they let the city know of their plan to file a lawsuit.
