MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- We're learning more about the condition of a crossing guard who was hurt by a hit-and-run driver last week.
Alderman Cavalier Johnson reported that 71-year-old Andrew Tyler underwent an amputation on Monday morning.
Tyler was hit Friday morning near 72nd and Carmen. The driver is still at large.
Johnson says an increase in police presence is always welcome.
"People tend to tell me is that they are seeing an increased police presence from the Milwaukee Police Department. That's very welcome, not only to myself and other aldermen but its also welcome by other people who are actually out on the street," said Ald. Cavalier Johnson.
If you have any information, you're asked to call Milwaukee Police. They're looking for a burgundy four-door Buick Park Avenue or Lesabre with front end damage.
In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMe to help with medical costs and prosthetics down the road. If you'd like to donate, click here.
