City of Milwaukee mulching Christmas Tree

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works Forestry Division took down the City Christmas tree on Friday and mulched it on the spot.

The 32 foot Colorado Blue Spruce was donated by Milwaukee residents Thomas Scannell and Elizabeth Hipp for the 2017 holiday season.

DPW Forestry crews have mulched the city's Christmas tree for years instead of putting it in the landfill. City residents also are encouraged to take their Christmas trees to one of the city's two drop-off Centers for mulching. The north drop-off center is located at 6660 N. Industrial Road (you must enter Industrial Road from Mill Road), the south drop-off center is located at 3879 W Lincoln Avenue.
