Calling all entrepreneurs: MKE Startup Week begins

Milwaukee Startup Week kicks off on Tuesday, November 1. Co-founder Matt Cordio joined us live on the CBS58 News at 4 to talk about the inaugural event.

Cordio says Startup Week is a response to recent report that ranked Milwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin very low in startup activity. He says entrepreneurship is vital to a strong economy because "research shows that startup companies create nearly 100% of net new jobs.”

The initial response has been encouraging, Cordio says about 2-thousand people have signed up for at least one of the week full of events.

Cordio says for someone who has a great idea for a business, but is not sure how to proceed, the launch conference on Tuesday, November 1 would be the perfect place to start. But there are plenty of other events, like a "speed mentoring" session and bus trip to Beloit to see what works with their startup community.
