MILWAUKEE -- We Energies parent company Wisconsin Energy Corp. is purchasing Integrys Energy Group in a multi-billion dollar deal. The new company will be the largest natural gas provider in the midwest and the eighth larest in the nation.

It will have more than four million customers throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. Wisconsin Energy Corp. CEO said this deal will provide superior service and competitive prices for years to come.

The $9.1 billion sale still needs federal approval, and approval from Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. The Wisconsin Public Service Commission says it can't comment until it receives the application for approval.
