Brother of 12-year-old Waukesha stabbing suspect speaks out

WAUKESHA -- The brother of one of the Waukesha stabbing suspects says his little sister could not tell the difference between dream and reality.

In an interview with the DailyMail, a British newspaper, the suspect's brother said, \"If you looked at my younger sister, you'd see a normal happy 12-year-old. She's just got a couple weird interests . Personally I think she found Slender Man on YouTube, took an interest and read up on it.\"

Slenderman is the fictional character the 12-year-old Waukesha girls say inspired them to kill their friend. They wanted to be proxies of Slenderman, and believed killing their 12-year-old friend would grant them the ability to be a Slenderman proxy.

The brother says his sister is intelligent, but lacking in common sense. \"I just wish she had enough common sense to tell the difference between what is real and what isn't,\" said the brother.

He continues saying, \"But she is only a little girl so I don't think she understood the ramification of what she was doing.\"

The suspect's brother told DailyMail he was shocked as anyone would be if it were their sister.

CBS 58 News has reached out to the brother, but he has yet to respond.
