Brewers say "no deal yet" with free agent SP Garza

MILWAUKEE - The Brewers say free agent starting pitcher Matt Garza isn't a member of the team yet.

Ken Rosenthal from Fox Sports first reported the details of an agreement on a 4 year, $52 million contract with Garza Thursday afternoon, pending a physical. The Brewers released a statement Thursday evening saying \"despite media reports, negotiations between the Brewers and Matt Garza are ongoing, but there is no deal yet.\"

Garza, 30, spent last season with the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers. Garza has a career 67-67 record with 1,001 strikeouts. Garza pitched a no-hitter on July 26, 2010 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Brewers are, to this point, the only team in Major League Baseball to have not signed a free agent this offseason.

The addition of Garza would bolster a Brewers' 2014 starting rotation that now includes veterans Kyle Lohse, Yovani Gallardo and Marco Estrada, along with young prospects Wily Peralta and Tyler Thornburg.
