Brewers postseason run bringing big business to Milwaukee area

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee Brewers pennant push is brining big business to the local economy.

Since the postseason, more fans have been coming to the city, filling up hotels and dining in local restaurants.

A sports economics professor at Marquette University says if the Brewers continue to play well, it could mean more fans will be coming to Milwaukee next season.

“There’s some studies that have been done that show if a team makes it to the playoffs, then the attendance for next year will be higher,” Walter Melnik said. “They’ll probably have a boost at the beginning of next year but that will depend on whether they continue to play well.”

Melnik says the team could see another boost in attendance if they make it to the World Series.
