Body of missing child found in Little Wolf River

WAUPACA, WI (CBS 58) -- The body of a missing 1 ½ year-old boy was found this morning in the Little Wolf River in the northwest corner of Waupaca County.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office reported that the body was discovered around 7:45 AM Sunday by volunteers looking for the toddler. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the boy was reported missing from his home around 3:25 PM Saturday.  The child had been in the garage with family members right before it was noticed that he was missing. The home is located in the Township of Harrison and is close to the Little Wolf River.

The Waupaca County Sheriff Office began an immediate search of the area.  At its peak, the search included first responders from as many as 20 different agencies, their K-9 units and civilian volunteers.

The name of the boy and his family are being withheld pending notification of family members.
