"Billcutterz," other online businesses claim to negotiate lower bill payments for you

(CBS 58) -- Handing over hard earned cash for bills every month is an annoying part of life that many of us deal with.

"I mean it's easier with the internet, I pay the majority of them online," said Mary Soliz.

Now, the internet may also help you save. A handful of websites and apps claim to negotiate lower bill payments. All you have to do is send them your monthly statements and they take it from there.

"Everyone is overspending on cable bills, internet bills," says Barry Gross with Billcutterz

The team at Billcutterz analyzes your bills then calls companies on your behalf to get you a better deal. They claim you can save up to $2,500 a year.

"We can almost immediately identify one or two or three or four things that you're either being overcharged for and you've just written the check month in or month out and they've raised the price over time."

An app called Trim and other websites like Billshark and BillFixers says they can do the same thing. Most people said they've never heard of such a thing.

"I guess I would be willing to try it. I would really like someone to look at my finances since I don't have the time to do," said Rachel Kiefer.

Billcutterz takes a 50% share of your savings and other websites are generally around the same range.
