Bay View development could mean 307 apartments

Bay View is quickly growing and it could soon get a 40-million-dollar development. The city would first have to agree re-zone 7 acres of property at the considered site, it's at the corner of Robinson and Ward.

Right now it's an old industrial site. The developer wants to turn it into 307 apartment units. Alderman Tony Zielinski says part of the property has been vacant for four to five years. Zielinski says the developer has also agreed to clean up any industrial waste left on the site.

He says the project is needed in his district because there are plenty of single family homes, just not apartments for young people wanting to move into Bay View.

Monday at South Shore Pavilion Park there will be an open meeting at 6 o'clock.
