Bank stops 81-year-old Milwaukee woman from falling victim to scam claiming to be Publisher's Clearing House

BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- US Bank in Brown Deer stopped an elderly woman from falling victim to a scam.
The woman entered the bank shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday to withdraw $15,000. The woman told police that she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House. They allegedly requested she pay a $15,000 fee in order to be eligible to win the sweepstakes.
When the woman tried to withdraw the money, the bank called the police.
No loss of money occurred and the woman was advised not to give personal information over the phone and to block any unknown phone numbers.
