Badgers get win over North Dakota but lose Van Vliet for the season

News that overshadowed the Badgers' win over North Dakota Tuesday night came before the game, as freshman Andy Van Vliet was ruled ineligible for the 2015-16 season by the NCAA.

An NCAA rules committee upheld an earlier decision banning Van Vliet for one full season because he played for the Port of Antwerp Giants in Belgium. Van Vliet will be a 21-year-old sophomore when he returns next season.

The rest of the Badgers disposed of North Dakota at the Kohl Center thanks to 17 points a piece from Bronson Koenig and Ethan Happ. Nigel Hayes added 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Wisconsin is now 2-1 on the season after losing its opener to Western Illinois.
